Goth music's more upbeat cousin, post punk/new wave, is my one true love when it comes to alternative music styles. It got super popular in the 80s, but it was originally just what parts of the underground punk scene sounded like in the late 70s/early 80s ("new wave" was a term that record companies coined so they didn't have to label the talking heads as "punk" for fear of it hurting sales).

My favorite new wave bands are The Talking Heads and DEVO, who both did some really groundbreaking shit music wise and had a lot of political commentary to say thru their music. Any other new wave heads here? What bands do you like?
