if u mean the mini profile background, u can change it by going to ur profile, edit profile, and at the bottom of the personal tab u will see the place to change the settings for it. usually clicking the text box will open a dialogue that will automatically format the image link for u but in the event that it doesn't, make sure u format the image link like so:

ah i see, u mean in posts. in posts u can click the insert image button or you can type

and if the image is too big and u want to resize it you can add

and play around w the percentages until its not too big anymore

u almost got it, u just gotta make sure your url ends in a file extension. such as .png or .jpg, or whatever ur file extension is. so for the image u tried to link there, u will want to write

and for the mini profile it would be like this
