(Note before we begin: This is kind of a weird thread concept so I wasn't really sure where to put it. Hopefully this is ok? I'm sure it can be moved if not.)
Cause you haven't turned the light on yet, duh!
Your name is TAD. Just TAD! And you are an ENGINEER working (and living) inside of a certain FACILITY, which houses somewhere within the ball park of 50 people, most of whom being scientists or engineers. You're not sure what the scientists do here, exactly, but you assume it's probably volatile and something that knowing about would get you put on some kind of very scary list, considering you were lead into your job interview blindfolded.
When you're not knee deep in wires and piping and have an opportunity to relax in your QUARTERS, you enjoy partaking in entertainment about CRIMINALS and ANTI-HEROIC ROGUES, as years spent making an honest living have made you long for a life with a certain amount of DANGER involved. The rational part of your brain decides to pipe up and remind you that your profession is quite dangerous too, but the rest of your brain concludes tragically dying atop a broken empire of ill-gotten riches is a lot sexier than slipping on a puddle and being mangled by heavy machinery.
Hi all, welcome to (as far as I know?) the RTVS forum's first CYOA game thread: TADQUEST! Completely unrelated from any other similar games which might involve alien trolls or monstrous experiments in strange underground laboratories. Though also quite a bit related to those.
I reckon you probably know the format of such a thing already, but a quick brief:
Stories such as these are done in the style of a TEXT ADVENTURE, where events are described (and shown) to you, and you can exert some level of control over how to proceed by submitting directions in the format of GAME COMMANDS. Picking which commands to use is my discretion, and how I choose will likely depend, but if one command is especially popular it's likely to be used. Of course sometimes I might not need to choose. I'll answer questions and make adjustments to the game if needed though.
I'll try and keep up with the thread regularly, but given real life commitments I can't always guarantee they'll be frequent.
With that out of the way, let's begin!
It is dark in here. Nothing can be seen...

It's not your job to care anyway. Your job IS to care FOR of all the highly expensive equipment that keeps this place running and lets those eggheads do their job. Currently you are working the NIGHT SHIFT, not that it matters in this place, and were just getting ready to leave for the POWER SECTOR.

Alas... it is but a dream. You're resigned to your only somewhat exciting life staring at hi-tech machinery. It's not like anything life-changing is likely to happen to you anytime soon.
As it happens, you are also quite adept at WOOD CARVING, though suitable wood is hard to come by here, so you settle for reading books about it.
But regardless, that's all tangential. Let's get on with it, shall we? Do you want to take a look at your room, or get straight into the day's proceedings? The world is your oyster.
